For the next couple weeks, I'm gonna put out a preview for every F1 team for the 2014 season. I will try and be consistent and do it every weekday at 11:00 AM, but I know I'm lazy and may not get it every day, let me know what you think of my preview!

The Team:

Scuderia Toro Rosso

Origins:

Minardi

Team History:

Scuderia Toro Rosso was formed in 2008 after purchasing the Minardi F1 team and has been a mid pack team ever since. They have finished between 6th and 10th in constructor's standings every year since their inception and have one win to their name. The team has mostly served as a AAA affiliate of Red Bull Racing.

The Car:

The STR9 swaps over to Renault engines from Ferrari, because the team presidents want to be charged with treason in Italy.

Is the Nose a Gentleman's Sausage?

Yes, probably the worst of all the cars

The Drivers:

Jean-Eric Vergne- In 2 years in F1, Vergne has finished 17th and 15th in points with a best finish of 6th at Canada in 2013.

Daniil Kvyat- I can't find a lot of info on this kid, but he won the GP3 championship last year and I suddenly feel very old.

Kinja'd!!!

The Sponsors:

Red Bull is primary (Surprise!) with Cespa, Capinda, and Nova supporting.

Why You Would Like This Team:

I really have no clue. If you really enjoyed Red Bull, you would be a RBR fan. if you were a Ferrari fan (they used to run Ferrari engines) you would be a Ferrari fan. I see no point in going for the AAA version of a F1 team.

My Expectations:

They will compete with Sauber and feel Williams creeping up on them, but should finish about 8th or 9th again this year in points barring any surprises.

I like them in an underdog sort of way, but I never expect much from them.

Also, thanks for the series - enjoying it so far....

The reason that I pay attention to STR is to see the likely up and coming RBR drivers. Vettel and Riccardo both came up to their RBR seats from STR. I don't think that Jev will make that jump unless he gets much quicker, but Kvyat has some potential based on his GP3 win. Time will tell.

They're basically filler....Red Bull's 'on the job' training program.
